Beverly Johnson at 59!

February 15, 2012 - Photo by Bauer Griffin
I was watching DVR'd Wendy Williams and Beverly Johnson was mentioned in Hot Topics.  First of all, who said 59 is old?!? Work it Beverly!

So anyway Wendy mentioned that Bev is getting her own reality show on Oprah's network, OWN. I'm not sure what it will be about, but I was just so in awe of Beverly Johnson's youthful appearance.

Nia Long Is 40 and Fabulous!

Nia Long is on the March 21st cover of Jet and she doesn't look a day over 20!  She has mentioned high doses of Vitamin C, amino acids, and fatty fish oils (Omega 3) as her secret to hydrating  her skin from the inside out.

I was in the supermarket when I passed this issue.  She is definitely stunning!  One can only hope to be as beautiful as she at 40.  With a healthy diet and the right skin care we can age as gracefully as Nia.

Is it true that "Good Black Don't Crack"?

We've heard this saying many times over.  science answers the question by saying that the melanin in our skin protects us from the sun's harmful rays better which would minimize those harmful effects.  We constantly see black celebrities who have aged or are aging well.  I'm sure you, just as I, know personally at least five black people who have aged well in life.

Even the best of gene pools cannot withstand the aging process so what is the truth?  The truth is, that it takes a collections of things.  The secret first starts from genetics.  Some people are blessed with genes that afford them problem free skin.  However, genes cannot stand alone.  It takes a healthy diet and the consumption of the right mix of vitamins and antioxidants to help those genes perform at their best.  For those who were not blessed with genetics, and those who are, a good skin care regimen and healthy cosmetics goes a long way.
